We are looking for a self-motivated and ambitious R&D Scientist - ink formulation & printing, to be part of our R&D team. You will be an important part of the core team, and we hope to find someone who thrives in the startup environment where each team member has a wide range of responsibilities and plenty of room to grow.

 

We believe that the ideal candidate would be someone structured, solutions oriented and creative. You have a strong interest in science and technology and we hope that you share our enthusiasm in obtaining new knowledge with a sustainability impact. The position is full-time and located in Uppsala. We offer stock options for employees.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Development of ink formulations for active and transporting layers. The work includes optimization of ink properties and stability.
  • Optimization of layer coatings on conductive substrates (e.g. PET, glass) via printing (e.g. inkjet, slot die) or spraying using commercial and proprietary formulations. The work includes optimization of the deposition procedure and post-treatment conditions.   
  • Development of scalable protocols for nanoparticles production. The work includes optimizing synthesis protocols that are compatible with ink formulations. 
  • Development of deposition methods for low-temperature back contacts (e.g. graphene, Ag NWs).
  • Layers characterization using techniques such as UV-vis, electrochemistry, AFM and SEM.
  • Performance tests of final devices (i.e. solar cells).
  • Written weekly reports containing process description, optimal printing conditions and discussion on results and prospects. 
  • As the team is relatively small, everyone is expected to help out with other tasks when possible.

Requirements

We are looking for someone that has experience and good knowledge of:

  • ink formulations 
  • printing (ink jet, slot die) and spraying  
  • characterization techniques (e.g., UV-vis, DLS, electrochemistry AFM, SEM, etc.)
  • Worked in the preparation or characterization of solar cells
  • Nanomaterial synthesis and characterization
  • Project management 

Education: Master/PhD in Chemistry, Physical-Chemistry, Physics 

We put a special emphasis on your personal qualities such as good collaboration and communication with other team members. You need to be focused and to able to work effectively both individually and in teams. You are expected to be efficient, accurate, and eager to develop the processes in the company. It would be an advantage if you have previous experience from working in a startup environment. The position requires good command of English.
